P0011: Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced

P0011 means the camshaft timing (in the variable valve timing, VVT, system) is more advanced than commanded on Bank 1 — often tied to oil or its control valve.

Symptoms

Rough idle, weak power, higher fuel use, sometimes hard starting, with a check engine light.

Common causes

Dirty/low/wrong-viscosity engine oil (most common), a dirty or faulty OCV/VVT oil control valve, or a clogged screen filter.

The fix
